Bio/Studies
Katarzyna Krzewińska was born in Kraków, where she also finished her bachelor studies in composition in the Academy of Music. She later graduated in composition from Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław after Master’s studies with Agata Zubel. During her studies, she participated in numerous masterclasses led by Krzysztof Penderecki, Agata Zubel, Marta Ptaszyńska, Paweł Mykietyn and Carola Bauckholt. Katarzyna achieved a laureate of scholarship awarded by the Rector of the Academy of Music in Wrocław.
Career
Her music has been performed in many concerts, music festivals and scientific conferences in Poland and abroad, including: Natur Trifft Musik in Goerlitz, Ogólnopolska Konferencja „Elementi” in Kraków, II Ogólnopolska Studencka Konferencja Naukowa „Neofonia” in Poznań, 57. Atelierkonzert „Begegnung der Kunste” in Jena, Międzynarodowa Studencka Konferencja Naukowa „Wieloznaczność dźwięku” in Wrocław, Międzynarodowa Fabryka Dźwięku in Essen, Dresden and Wrocław, and Debut Sounds in London. She has worked with great ensembles such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sound Factory Orchestra, Ensemble Marges and soloists: Renata Raczyło (cl), Joanna Gutowska (vc), Henry Baldwin (perc.), Jude Carlton (perc.). Katarzyna works on chamber and orchestral compositions and electroacoustic music. She also writes music for theatre; in 2014 she composed music to Magdalena Celniaszek’s theatre play „Chagall”, and she has created sounds for movies and animations. Her interests focus on sonoritstic and postspectral music. In 2015/2016, she participated in the London Philharmonic Orchestra Young Composers Programme, during which she composed beneath the surface for two percussionists and orchestra. The piece was performed at the Debut Sounds concert in Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall in London on July 2016. She currently lives in Kraków where she works in her own composition studio.
