International Ankara Music Festival

The Sevda-Cenap And Music Foundation organizes the International Ankara Music Festival as part of its efforts to make universal polyphonic music common and aims for a festival worthy of the capital city. The International Ankara Music Festival became a member of the European Festivals Union, in 1993 and was run under the auspices of the President for the first time in 1994. After these two important steps, a change in the attitude of sponsors towards the festival has enabled the festival to gain an increasing level of support each year. The main colloboration is made by cultural institutes in Ankara. One issue which many people wonder about is how the festival programme is arrived at. The plans are drawn up by the foundation secretary after a year of applications and contacts. These are presented to a commission of representatives from all the musical organizations in Ankara with whom it takes its final form.
